The Office of Strategic Plans and Assessment supports and integrates strategic planning, policies, governance, and assessment to promote institutional effectiveness and the accomplishment of the academy mission.

COL Brian J. Novoselich Ph.D., P.E.
USMA Director of Strategic Plans and Assessment
Colonel Brian Novoselich was commissioned as an Armor Officer from the U.S. Military Academy in 1996. He has served in a variety of Armor units with leadership responsibilities up to the Brigade Executive Officer level. COL Novoselich has served in the department from 2006-2009 and again from 2016 to the present and has taught and directed courses in the Design, Thermal-Fluids, Dynamics, and Automotive threads. He served as the Director of the Center for Innovation and Engineering (CIE) from 2017-2019. He is currently the Thread Director for the Automotive and Weapons Thread and is simultaneously serving as the Director of Strategic Plans and Assessment (G5) for USMA.
Office of Institutional Research
The Office of Institutional Research (OIR) collects and analyzes data in support of the decision making processes, supports assessment activities, and provides an institutional-level assessment of both cadet outcomes and institutional effectiveness.
Office of Data & Analysis
The Office of Data & Analysis (ODA) develops and oversees the data and data management systems necessary to empower leaders at all levels to make data-informed decisions, minimize USMA's risks related to data, and underpin critical unstructured decisions.
