CPT Carley Schumacher teaches a variety of courses within the Department of Physical Education to include: Army Fitness Development, Combat Applications, Military Movement, Golf, and Skiing. A native of Tecumseh, MI, she earned a bachelor of science in Athletic Training from Indiana Wesleyan University in 2018 before direct commissioning into the U.S. Army Medical Specialist Corps through the Army-Baylor Doctoral Program in physical therapy at Fort Sam Houston, TX. Prior to graduation in 2021, CPT Schumacher completed a one-year clinical internship at Fort Bliss, TX.

CPT Schumacher served as the holistic health and fitness (H2F) physical therapist/Injury-control director for the 101st Combat Aviation Brigade at Fort Campbell, Kentucky from 2021-2025. In this role, she led efforts in injury prevention, rehabilitation, and human performance optimization for Soldiers across the brigade. While stationed at Fort Campbell, Carley also completed Air Assault School, served as the athletic trainer for the 2024 All-Army and All-Armed Forces women’s basketball teams, and competed for the All-Army women’s golf team.

Carley is married to her husband, Ryan, who served four years as an Army Nurse Corps officer. They have two fur-babies, Izzy and Poppy.
