CPT Ivan L. Mobley

CPT Ivan Mobley is an international affairs instructor in the Department of Social Sciences at the United States Military Academy.

He commissioned as an air defense artillery officer in 2017 after graduating from the United States Military Academy. While attending West Point, he studied international relations and French while playing on the Men's Army Volleyball Team.

CPT Mobley began his career in Okinawa, Japan with the 1st Battalion, 1st Air Defense Artillery Regiment where he served as a fire control, launcher, and Headquarters platoon leader. After winning the Missile Defender of the Year Award, he became the 1-1 ADA Fire Direction Center Officer in Charge where he integrated and managed air defense operations across joint and multilateral partners in the Pacific region. He was then assigned to the 108th Air Defense Artillery Brigade where he served as an air defense artillery fire control officer (ADAFCO) in support of Operation Spartan Shield. Following his tenure as an ADAFCO, he commanded Charlie Battery, 3rd Battalion, 4th Air Defense Artillery Regiment.

CPT Mobley then attended graduate school at Harvard University's John F. Kennedy School of Government, where he studied public policy concentrating in international and global affairs and graduated with a master's in public policy in May 2026. His research interests include great power politics and development where he has focused on the Sino-American relationship and it's impacts on middle power, especially in Africa. Upon graduating, he began serving as a USMA instructor where he will teach international affairs.
