LTC Thomas Carnes Assistant Professor Law & Philosophy thomas.carnes [at] westpoint.edu About Education LTC Carnes grew up in Virginia Beach, VA, and graduated from West Point in 2008, commissioning as a signal officer. He returned to West Point to teach philosophy from 2017-2020 before becoming an FA59 strategic plans officer. He completed his Ph.D. from Duke University and returned as an academy professor of philosophy in 2026. He is married to his high school sweetheart, Lyndsay, and they have two children together, Chloe and Owen. Ph.D., Duke University
