Opportunities for Civilian Faculty

Our civilian faculty members provide an essential element of faculty excellence and diversity.  They exemplify dedicated civilian service to the Nation and the exceptionally high professional and personal standards of the community of educators and scholars.

Approximately one-fourth of the USMA faculty is composed of civilian professional educators serving the Army under the provisions of Title 10 U.S. Code. Salaries are highly competitive with other top four-year undergraduate institutions. 

There are also postdoctoral, fellowship, and visiting professor positions available.

Candidates for positions are evaluated according to the following factors:

(1) Advanced degree (Ph.D.) in either chemical engineering, chemistry, or life science.

(2) Ability to teach undergraduate courses in general chemistry and appropriate electives in chemistry, chemical engineering, or life sciences.

(3) Ability to conduct research.

(4) Ability to mentor students, direct them in their individual research projects and support student activities outside the classroom.

(5) Demonstrated high standards of scholarship and promise of growth and development in the academic profession.

Applicants should have some college or professional teaching experience and a personal research agenda. Undergraduate education is our top priority. This appointment is a three-year renewable appointment.
